Japan+Haani concert on 22 July in South Estonia
Beautiful cooperation of the Japanese and Estonian artists to be presented on hilly landscape of South Estonia on 22 July 2026 at 6 pm in Suur Muna Restaurant garden in Haanja Upland. The Japan+Haani summer concert will be held in cooperation with three musicians: Jun Futamata, Kotaro Saito and Anu Taul. Other Japanese culture activities, including Origami Workshop, are beginning at 3 pm (see more below).
Jun Futamata - Composer / Vocalist / Sound Artist
A visionary artist celebrated for her innocent, crystalline vocals anda meticulous composition style built upon intricate vocal layering. Her work inhabits a "one-and-only" sonic universe that seamlessly weaves together elements of post-classical, ambient, contemporary, and environmental music, reaching audiences across the realms of minimalism, electronica, and classical traditions.

Kotaro Saito
Cellist / Composer / Jomon Ambassador
As the only cellist in Japan to master the electric cello with such fluidity, Kotaro Saito delivers a boundary-breaking performance style. From performing with J-pop icons and jazz masters to leading avant-garde art projects, he bridges the gap between classical elegance and experimental innovation.
He is the visionary behind "JOMON MUSIC of the EARTH," an art project that translates the intricate patterns of prehistoric Jomon pottery into contemporary soundscapes.

Recording & Live: Shiina Ringo, Angela Aki, Jazztronik, Crazy Ken Band, and Keiko Matsui.
Stage & Film: Performed improvisational cello for Cocoon Kabuki alongside the legendary Nakamura Kanzaburo.

In addition to the concert there will be other Japanese
culture activities
organised
during the day on 22 July in Suur Muna: Origami Workshop by Arisa Kawasaki, Nordic Culture Lab, Japanese green tea by Janne Funk and Rise&Zen, Japanese Thought and Taste, as well Matcha Bar by Aivo and Merike Alev, NAMM Chocolate.
